ABOUT US

Who we are and why do we exist?

Hillock Global Enterprise was founded in 2016, by a young millennial who after highschool was unceremoniously thrust into the job market. From an extended family of 7 and brought up by her grandparents in cosmopolitan Nairobi, it was more of survival for the fittest through a treacherous job market that only accepted degree qualifications as the minimum entry requirement for any entry level job. She knew she didn’t stand a chance, because her grandparents couldn’t afford to further her education.

Resilience and grit led her to leverage on opportunities that didn’t have a barrier to entry, by building her skills through digital economy opportunities; from website administration of ecommerce websites, to a virtual assistant and even a social media manager all before the disruption of COVID19.

As her skillset began to shape up, so did her income and this led to specialization in the digital economy by building the capacity of young people in Kenya to access skills and opportunities in the global workspace. With increased confidence to take control of her life, she enrolled in her first educational course and made a promise to herself to one day create an organisation that provided pathways to improved livelihoods for young people, one that can ensure no young person is denied access to creating a better life for themselves because of limitations beyond their control.

And in 2016, she founded Hillock Global to support decent work and economic growth for underserved youth and communities. At Hillock, we believe in transformative change that takes on a systemic approach to supporting communities to gain access to pathways to decent livelihoods as our backbone.

At Hillock, we don’t believe in a one size fits all approach to sustainable and inclusive livelihood opportunities but tailed approaches that align with the specific accessibility challenge within the community anchored in sustainable economic development.

Framing – Connecting the dots: Digitalization as a pathway, labor markets (positioning hillock across the broader ecosystem) to effectively support decision making on livelihood areas that can catalyse economic development and collaboration from the community, private sector, governments, multilaterals to enhance systems and policies that catalyze sustainable change. SDG 8

We work with communities, governments, private sector, multinationals and bilateral partners because we all have a role to play in this collective agenda.

To solve this problem we believe that various pathways can help solve economic development challenges like lack of access to infrastructure.

Our mission and vision is anchored on SDG 8 which is to promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.

We empower rural youth in the community as a We are a catalyst to economic development for rural youth by providing access to vocational training and decent work opportunities for decent livelihoods.
